HOPE worldwide Philippines' Relief and Psychosocial Efforts for the Victims of Typhoon Washi (Sendong)
Cagayan de Oro and Iligan City are unexpectedly and severely damaged by the typhoon’s wrath as flashfloods immediately swept away people and their houses in the dead of the night in December 16, 2011. Thousands are left homeless without food, water and other necessities.
Survivors from Mindanao is crying for help and HOPE worldwide Philippines responded on their call for help by mobilizing 10 staffs to provide psycho-social care, child protection and basic relief services to 10,000 beneficiaries. We estimate the costs for one month program of US$20,000. Please join us in this effort."
Let’s help the survivors appreciate still the spirit of Christmas. Let’s make them feel that they are never forgotten… nor forsaken.
The most needed relief goods would be:
¤ water (bottled or purified)
¤ Food and Grocery
¤ water purifying tablets and equipment
¤ analgesics and broad spectrum antibiotics and medicines for coughs, colds, asthma and other respiratory tract infections
¤ topical preparations against scabies, lice, fungus or skin diseases common in evacuation centers;
¤ maintenance medicines for hypertension and diabetes;
¤ light weight aluminum cookware & kitchen utensils for displaced, homeless families;
¤ solar or battery powered lights, celphone chargers and transistor radios;
¤ powdered milk, infant formula and coffee;
¤ instant or so-called "READY MEALS"
¤ new underwear for all ages;
¤ personal hygiene products such as sanitary napkins, and baby diapers;
¤ soap, shampoo, toothpaste
¤ light weight blankets or banig;
¤ good used clothing, slippers, shoes and bed linens;
¤ raincoats, sweaters, windbreakers, jackets for all ages
¤ school supplies and public school uniforms for kids returning to school this January;
